Instruction manual - Instructie boek - Dutch - NL - Beers NV

Yes, I'm extremely pleased with this Dutch manual which got send to me for a little favor. It's now available in the download folder. Of course it's an electronic copy so I still would like to own an original hardcopy

Online I spotted this original document holder/map. Would love to get my hands on that:

It's even listed on the accessoiri parts (item 28). And what about the toolbag and the tools. That would be extremely cool to get ahold of.

Battery holder + Aprilia rectifier (raddrizzatore) Norma Bologna 2H1DB40 582

Another item that I looked into was the battery holder. Also the battery was included. It was a gel battery but upon checking it was completely dead and it was not possible to charge it either. Oh well. I did notice it was a 12V battery. According to the booklet it needs to be 4.5 Ah

In any case, it looks like they had slighly bend the iron to make this battery fit. And also this piece was left untreated, not sure why, everything else had been done.

And now mounted with fresh bolts. You can see the bottom part is bend, so the battery would fit.
I will sand it and spray at a later stage. First I want everything build and fully working.

I measured the battery holder in order to find a proper fit. So roughly: L x W x  H = 128 x 37 x 127 mm

It's likely going to be a challenge to find a matching battery. But I found it easily in the end. Again this model and size is also used on the Lambretta. Yes, again the D150 model:

https://www.riminilambrettacentre.com/it/batteria-6v-a-gel-lambretta-d150-ld150-vers-2-ld-57.html

Maybe good also to order this harness wiring:

https://www.riminilambrettacentre.com/it/impianto-elettrico-lambretta-d150-con-batteria-stop.html

The Lambretta d150 is also making use of the same control switch:

http://www.lambrettiamo.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=72_176_188&product_id=415

Next item I looked into was the rectifier:

Again, this was an easy fit. I do have the cover cap as well but forgot to include it. The cap has the name Aprilia on it. Inside you can read the brand name Norma Bologna. And the type nr: 2H1DB40 582  Unfortunately I could not find much about this type.

I'm unsure if it's still functioning. And I believe it's a 6V rectifier, so the battery should also be a 6V instead of the used 12V. Maybe the series 2 used a 12V system, not sure about that.

Brake light switch CEV - interrutotore luce stop

Today I had a little spare time and wanted to make a start at the electrics as thats mostly the main thing that needs to be sorted out. Luckily the previous owner kept these cabling pieces and specific items.

I did found this item and wondered what is was used for. I figured it had to be a brake light switch. So I measured it and it was still functioning.

A quick look underneath the scooter close to the brake hinge point I found the location where it was suppose to be fitted:

So for checking purposes I temporary mounted it:

It is only now that I see on the photo's the existing spring to pull the brake pedal back should be actually used on the switch. In any case this is something simplistic to overcome.

I only need to source a small copper screw to fit the wiring. Maybe I can find a NOS switch. It has stamped the markings CEV on it. Not sure what brand and type this is:

Well, quicker as anticipated I found these items on Ebay. The brand name is CEV but model type is still unknown. The Italian naming is: Cev Interruttore Luce Stop Knowing the Italian naming helps in searching and narrowing it down

Here another offer on Ebay:

these are again pricy items and not to mention the shipping costs

And this one with a specific adjustment screw on the back:

So apparently they are being used on the known brands, ie Benelli, Moto Guzzi, Laverda, Gilera

As I was still curious regarding CEV, I meanwhile found out the following:

Apparently the current owning company is Zadi:

The Group continues to grow with the acquisition of a company that, in a hundred years, has covered the history of the motorcycle: FRATELLI PAGANI of Milan, a manufacturer of lighting equipment and instrumentation under the brand CEV.

And this link provides an even better historical overview of the brand CEV:

Dutch Road Test

I also got ahold of this Dutch Road Test, unfortunately the source is unknown to me. The complete article is available in the download folder in the Brochure section.

Steering lock

One of the other items that was missing was the steering lock. At first I had no idea it was a steering lock. My only source was some internet photo's. So I figured at first it was an ignition key. And the key lock is mounted differently on a series 2 (> 1959). Once I figured out it was a steer lock the search started. And of course I found one but it was only for a series 2.

Oh, the old lock was stored in a small box with some other bits and pieces which came with the scooter. I guess the old lock must have been damaged or broken due to a missing key.

And after a long deep search I found a matching picture. Hurray! Even though I was not 100% sure I bought it. In the end I ordered it as this company: https://www.lambretta.me/   I could not find it easily locally and took the € 25,-  shipping costs for granted. So in total this item costed € 77,-

And yes, it is a Lambretta item (D, LD).

And today it arrived and I did happen to go to the storage so I could try to fit it. And of course it fitted:

Needless to say I am very happy with this fix!!!

APRILIA HEADLIGHT GLASS IGM 0143 PX ISO MILANO

I already noticed some components are sourced from the brand Aprilia. Online I found two different sources offering these headlight glasses for sale. They were stamped with Aprillia. IGM 0143PM

I suspect these are both for a series 2. My headlight glass is slightly different. It has the Aprilia brand stamped at the bottom and on the side it has the numbers 4004-A and IGM 0.77-38-?

Although mine is good it would not hurt to find a new spare. I sense already that series 1 parts will become more difficult to obtain.

I was also curious regarding the abreviation IGM. And apparently it's a historical scooter brand. It stands for Imprese Generali Meccaniche, based in Arcore. At least I think it's associated but maybe I'm wrong.

Luggage carrier

Today I had limited time to do anything about the scooter. The scooter is also parked at a different storage location. Be prepared this will become a frequent excuse on the slow progress but it's actually true.

Apparently the scooter is equipped with an optional luggage carrier and as far as I can tell it's an original item. Somehow the previous owner left it "untreated" so it's rusty and looks poor. Besides that I also think it's not a good match considering the view and the looks of it. Perhaps a different carrier in combination with a spare tire might have looked better. By now I have seen quite a few of luggage carrier options. But I think it looks best without it. So off it went.

Before:

After:

It looks so much cleaner now. It's not the best picture I took but it started raining outside. And inside it was a bit crowed with hobby vehicles :-)

Keylock compartment

Another item that is missing on my scooter; a keylock for the storage compartment. Currently holds together with tape:

I'm pretty sure there must be a new replacement available. But if possible I would like to obtain an original key set from a spares scooter. Online I found this. On the key I can read "milano serrature"

Via a looking glass I was able to enlarge without quality reduction of the photo. Still not clearly readable but the first three letters are E D A the last one might be a N. Ofcourse I searched for the options in combination with Settature Milano but nothing sensible showed up. I suspect this brand simply no longer exists? Anyone? (click the photo to enlarge):

Today I checked the diameter of the lock and it's about 2,2 cm :

By now I made 2 FB postings asking for help to identify and/or source one. One person with whom I have made contact responded:

This is a hard thing. I was looking also for a close to same lock. There is nothing on the market. Diameter is M21x1 with is very not common.
There are two brands that were used on diva. One is UR and the other is EDAL. Didnt found something about it.

And another owner responded with an alternative solution:

So likely it will become difficult to find one, so I think it will become some kind of mailbox solution. I will do some more checks for modern scooter lock solutions.

Dutch Road Register RDW - chassis nr - VIN

Via www.kenteken.tv I was able to extract the following data from the Dutch Road Register:

So in total there are currently 8 Iso scooters registered in the Netherlands. Mostly they are known as tipo 150-2T. One is called Milano Diva and one as Iso-scooter-150.

It would be nice to get in touch with these owners.

I hope to learn more about the VIN numbers. My chassis nr is F286190 with Engine nr F285945

I suspect the F is reffering to the Italian name of this scooter: Iso F

And guess what I found? A Dutch company who carried out huge maintenace on a Iso:

https://redhandclassics.com/en/2021/11/10/iso-milano-diva-1959/

The Youtube video reveals also the license plate TL-83-88 and it's listed above as well.

And via their Facebook page I found the posting as well:

https://www.facebook.com/redhandclassics/videos/919661632027579/

Apparently the work was completed around 12 Jan 2022.
The scooter got registered by the last owner at 4 March 2022.

As I have been in touch with them I know the scooter is back for a complete engine overhaul.

Dell'Orto MA19B6 - airfilter tipo F18/1

One of the things I had to look into was the carburettor as it has now a silly open air filter and not the original filter housing.

By now I know it's a Dell Orto type MA19B6 and the correct matching filter should be a tipo F18/1 and not a F18 (without /1). The difference apparently is the opening, the first one is oval and the other one is round. Maybe not a huge difference but judging by the photo's the F18/1 has a much larger opening, so more air intake.

dismanteld Dell Orto MA19B6

When checking online I found this photo with the correct setup (however a 2nd series).
In this case you can see clearly it's a tipo F18/1 filter with a tube connected to a seperate airfilter box.
So I now need to source those 3 items: airbox, airtube and carburetor airfilter housing. Where to find this?

Monday 17 July 2023

brake and clutch handles

Both my handles are damaged, one is halfway broken off and the other one has a bit chipped off in the corner.

Again, it's going to be difficult to source new ones. These are different compared with the series 2.

I found someone on Facebook who posted a whole lot for Iso vehicles:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/ISOmoto/permalink/5555539987814358/

Look like he has a pair (the ones in the left bottom corner):

So I reached out to him. Hopefully he has still a matching pair.

Update 22-7-2023: And surprise surprise I didn't got a response. Upon checking also the FB post was gone/deleted. Sigh!

Dutch Iso brochure 1961

Yesterday on the Dutch Marketplace someone offered a Dutch Iso brochure for sale. I got outbid and it was sold for € 15,- It's a brochu...
